- Design your pumpkin based on your favorite Fairy Tale, or Nursery Rhyme.
- Purchase a pumpkin (basketball size or smaller)
- Gather your decorating supplies
- Decorate your pumpkin without carving, cutting, or poking holes in it.
- Acrylic paints or permanent markers work best. Watercolors tend to run, and spray paint will gradually dissolve the pumpkin. You can add material, like yarn, buttons, wiggly eyes, etc.
- Bring your pumpkin to the Media Center the week of Oct. 25th-27th.
- Be sure to pick up your pumpkin on Oct. 31. (All pumpkins left behind will be thrown away)
- Participation is completely voluntary. This is not a contest.
- One entry per student.
- Have fun and be creative.

Scott Savage
The fifth graders were able to hear from author J.Scott Savage. He is the author of the
Far World and Mysteries of Cove series. During his visit he told the students that
anything they imagined could be possible and they could make a change in the world.
Any idea is worthwhile. He showed them from ideas books are created. He then had
the students make their own story he taught them using story elements. We had a very creative story
that included a giant gummy bear, Darth Vader, and our Principal Mr. Nielsen.
